Remember Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in the 1970s? The swan insignia. The popularity of owning a pair of "Gloria jeans"?! Well, she is alive and well in Ukraine! (Anderson Cooper is probably making money on his mama's stock here). We were walking to market this morning to look for a pair of longer jeans for Little Chix and commented on the couple walking in front of us on the sidewalk. So cute they are! Their child is holding each parent's hand, walking in the middle, swinging back and forth as they walk in a threesome down the sidewalk. Then they all turned and went into a store called "Gloria Jeans" that we never noticed before. We said, "Hey, this looks just like something perfectly suited for Little Chix!" So we went in and lo and behold - it was loaded with her style of clothes! We brought the iphone translator with us this time, and actually conversed reasonably well in terms of finding her size. We shopped the sale tables and had a blast! Little Chix has 2 pair of jeans and 2 little skirts now and another set of tights (she loves tights)! Papa also bought her a little pink belt. We simply did not bring the right sized clothes for her when we packed.
So, Chix is decked out and ready with enough bottoms and shoes to get by when we can pick her up after the 10 day waiting period. No problem with shirts and jackets; we packed well in terms of the "tops." And, Mr_S didn't have to be a market-man! He was extremely pleased! [wink!] We can donate the way too tight "not suppose to be but look like Capri" pants to the Children's Home.
Another funny story is that we saw an older lady walking down the sidewalk. Out jumps a street cat who runs straight for her. Is the cat going to attack the old lady? What is with that cat?! Well, the cat jumps up on a wall and the old lady pulls out something for the cat to eat and pets it. Apparently, they are fast friends. How fun is that? Very nice. We saw a cat that looked like Axl, our cat, and tried to pet him but with no avail. We are going through a few pet withdrawals, as one would expect. The need to pet and cuddle our animals is a strong need. They are in good hands, we know. Miss_A says she misses petting Patches, the rabbit. They all hold great meaning to us.
